Community Innovation Worker

Across the generations, everyone contributing towards a good life. Wesley Rātā Village is a place to re-weave community to support wellbeing and resilience. It is a home to enjoy living in and a place to visit for inspiration and strengthening connections. It's a place for all generations, with a special position for seniors/kaumātua.

Working from Wesley Rātā Village in Naenae, this person will bring ideas and passion to the goal of fostering and delivering sustainable community driven activities for the Hutt Valley with a special focus on seniors/kaumātua. These activities will promote participation and purpose for all people and support older people to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives. The role will encourage innovation and partnerships with a range of groups and explore effective use of the resources at Wesley Rātā Village.

The role is grounded on the appreciation of the unique approach and position of WCA. They will value a strong collaborative approach and will model the 'Wesley Way' of working and value being open to challenge change and growth.

The person who will thrive in this role is someone who:

  • loves working with community and has proven experience in creating opportunities for it to flourish
  • is excited about the future possibility of community-based initiatives for seniors and the wider community
  • gets things done
  • is relationship focused
  • Has good networks.

Some of the key tasks:

  • Supporting Wesley Community Action to achieve its vision for Wesley Rātā Village Vision
  • Researching, designing and communicating the concept of a community-led Ageing Well Network
  • Maintain relationships with Hutt City Council
  • Supporting the hosting of community led events
    at the Village
  • Reporting on impact and activity.

A 40 hour per week position (negotiable) and is based at 249 Rata Street Naenae.
