Visitor Host - Waikato Museum

Want to be one of the smiling and friendly faces welcoming visitors to one of Hamilton’s most popular attractions?

Waikato Museum aims to be the best regional museum in New Zealand and is looking for the right person to take on a role in our Visitor Services Team.

The Museum Visitor Host role will include front of house duties such as retail assistance, security, selling admission, giving information and guidance to our visitors, and assisting with public programmes. A knowledge of te reo Maaori and tikanga would be an advantage, as well the ability to interact with and understand the needs of people from different countries and cultures.

We need someone who can transfer their existing customer and visitor service experience and skills to the cultural and artistic environment, working across the museum and ArtsPost. You’ll also have excellent computer literacy skills and will be available to work set days each week.

We're looking for someone who can work 35.5 hours every week (rostered Tuesday - Saturday), with the opportunity to work additional hours through working venue hires and exhibition openings. The recruiting range for this role starts at $41,669 per annum (pro rata).

Waikato Museum is staffed by a diverse, lively and friendly group of museum professionals who work closely together and strive to deliver a world-class museum experience.

All candidates will be notified of the outcome on their application via email. This role is covered by the Children’s Act 2014, which means that shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo all safety checking requirements under the Act before commencing employment, as well as during employment. Short-listed candidates may be required to complete an interview process, reference checks, pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol assessments, credit check and a Ministry of Justice or Police vetting check.
