Call Centre Operator

Human Connections Group has partnered exclusively with Dunedin Taxis (1965) Ltd for the appointment of a part-time Call Centre Operator working a guaranteed 20 hours a week covering the shifts 2pm to 6pm or 3pm to 7pm (more hours may be available on an adhoc basis) and also for a full-time 40 hour a week position to be worked on rotating shifts.

The Company:

After a merge between Octagon Taxis and Roslyn Taxis in March 1939, Dunedin Taxis was formed.  Originally operating as a private company owning its own building, licences, cars and employing its own drivers, it also operated its own control room, together with its own office and administration services.

After many years of being in operation and embracing changes to its fleet from about 50 Dodge & Chrysler vehicles was black, with six white ones to cater for weddings and the introduction of lady drivers who willingly and capably filled the gaps made when our men were called to defend the Commonwealth during the War in 1939 -1945 in 1987 the ever-expanding company seized the opportunity and purchased our new headquarters at 177 Leith St, which was formally opened on 7th December 1988. These much larger modern premises allowed for all existing company activities to continue and expand.

Dunedin Taxis (1965) Ltd is now owned and operated by Otago drivers who are fully trained and experienced and must adhere to a very strict code of ethics. While being the largest taxi fleet south of Waitaki, they are proud of their clean fleet and the professional presentation of their drivers together with their reputation for safe and courteous service they offer today.

The Job:

This is a front-line role within the environment of a busy call centre where you will be responsible for the answering of customer calls, taking bookings and entering appropriate customer information into the Sigtec system so that taxis are dispatched efficiently.  You will need to have flexibility in the days you work as this is a 24/7 – 365 days a year operation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receiving all telephone calls.
  • Taking all bookings as required and entering all details them into the Telebook system.
  • Entering the complete data into the Sigtec Telebook computer terminal for despatch by the Sigtec T8000 Computer Controlled Dispatch System.

The Person:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication skills and an outstanding telephone manner. Having a good eye for detail is a very big part of this role also as well as being hard working.

Skills & Experienced Required:

  • Previous call centre experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good literacy skills
  • Good problem-solving abilities
  • Keyboard / Data entry skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Be dependable and punctual
  • Own transport or ability to get to work
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand
