Laboratory Technician Microbiology & Chemistry

Westland Milk Products is a successful independent co-operative dairy manufacturer. Our state-of-the-art processing plant, head office, research and laboratory facility are all based in Hokitika. We produce a diverse range of high-quality dairy products, marketed globally and we complete our product testing on site.

We are looking for a Microbiology and Chemistry Laboratory Technician to join our Hokitika based laboratory. We are looking for motivated individuals who pride themselves on attention to detail and work only to the high standards. Innovation and problem-solving abilities along with excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work confidently with computer systems.

Your responsibilities will include performing testing on the final product within our quality assurance guidelines to meet our ISO 17025 accreditation. You will also learn the rationale behind the testing and then have the ability to troubleshoot a test or method if required. You will be working with modern equipment in a progressive and expanding company.

To sum up, this is what we are looking for:

  • Tertiary qualification in science, specialising in microbiology or chemistry
  • Experience with laboratory methods and techniques is essential
  • Excited to live and work in Hokitika
  • Motivated and enthusiastic about science and the role
  • Current eligibility to work in New Zealand
