About the business

The People Place team works with leaders who understand their people are the route to success.

With the feel of an internal team, and the expertise of a consultancy, we operate as an extension of our clients' businesses.

We are human Swiss Army knives, masters of making it happen. We are starters, communicators, and perfectionists.  We know that the road to excellence is paved in the detail and, due to an increase in demand from our clients, we're looking for an HR Generalist who will slot seamlessly into our team.

About the role

In this role, you will work across a portfolio of approximately 20 small businesses and, with the support of the team, provide our clients with a full suite of HR Consultancy services.  To be successful, you will have spent at least 4 -5 years in a HR role with proven experience in the following:

  • Employment relations
  • Organisational development
  • Performance management
  • Disciplinary matters
  • Employment agreements
  • HR policies
  • Remuneration
  • Performance reviews
  • Onboarding
  • Recruitment
  • Coaching and support of managers

Skills and Experience

You will need a sound working knowledge of current employment legislation and be skilled in change management. Your ability to build credible ongoing relationships with leaders and business owners is vital, as is the delivery of pragmatic business outcomes.   You will have proven experience managing successful HR projects from inception to completion.

Given that our clients are not all Auckland based, some flexibility for travel would be beneficial.

Why us?

This is a full time, permanent role, with the option to work from home (candidates who would like to work slightly reduced hours will also be considered).  In this role, flexibility will be your friend, and will be offered in return.  We operate in a high-trust, high-expectation environment; our current team of five work Monday - Friday, in five different locations, with hours that suit them and our clients.

At The People Place we pay fairly, charge fairly, and work to live, not live to work! Our business operates solely off client referrals and we're proud of that.

To speak with us about joining the team, apply with your resume, and a cover letter outlining why The People Place team would be lucky to work with you!

The application form will include these questions:
  • Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in New Zealand?
  • How many years of recruitment experience do you have?
  • How many years' experience do you have in Human Resources (HR)?
  • What's your expected annual base salary?
