Casual Animal Shelter Officer

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

On a casual basis, you will be responsible for ensuring all animals in the accommodation area are cared for which includes feeding, exercising, and cleaning. With strong communication skills you will be customer focused by way of assisting with adoption, education and building relationships with internal and external customers. You will be releasing dogs to the public, updating systems where appropriate and assisting with vet treatment of animals and euthanasia processes when required.

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

Naturally you will demonstrate competent animal handling skills coupled with outstanding customer service.  You will need to be flexible, have a great work ethic and be able to withstand the physical requirements of this role.  You will impress with your excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Previous animal handling or husbandry, or vet clinic experience would be ideal.  Animal care certificate or equivalent qualification would be advantageous (but not a compulsory requirement).  A full, clean NZ driver’s licence is also preferred.

The role is primarily based in Henderson however flexibility is required to work at other shelters in Silverdale and Manukau when needed.

This role is deemed safety sensitive and in line with Auckland Council policy, you will be required to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
