We have an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Accountant or experienced Assistant Accountant / Accounts Clerk to join our Finance team and fulfil a range of general accounting tasks and financial administration. This is a full-time opportunity based in our Head Office with a dynamic, sociable and busy Finance team, located right on Lyttelton Harbour's waterfront.

Reporting to our Accounting Team Lead, in this role you'll be assisting with:

  • Bank reconciliations
  • AP / AR (including providing direct back-up for AP and AR staff when required)
  • GST calculations
  • Month end, including general ledger and inventory reconciliations
  • Asset capitalisation and disposal
  • Identifying opportunities for system and process improvements and assisting in their implementation
  • Other financial administration and data entry tasks as required

What we need from you:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accountancy / working toward a relevant qualification or,
  • Prior experience in an Assistant Accountant / Accounts Clerk role, ideally in a larger organisation
  • Good standard of Microsoft Excel skills and ideally experience with a recognised Accounting software package
  • Ability to learn swiftly and work with a good level of independence / autonomy
  • A flexible and accommodating attitude, solutions-focussed mindset and positive communication skills
  • Ideally have availability to commence in late November
