Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer

The Company
This is an R&D office that you won’t see often. It is a rare work space where you can step out of an air-conditioned office into a sun-soaked bay of plenty semi-rural orchard and see their work being tested in the orchards. The office itself is a like a mini google, a buzz of activity where like minded software, and mechatronic engineers are literally inventing custom built new products to market that look set to revolutionise the industries they are designed for.
  
This company is focused on the future, they are specialised in the development of smart robotics, automation, mechanisation, and sensor technology that maximise productivity in primary industries in local and offshore markets. Since 2013 they have developed world-leading automation, robotics and sensor technologies to address this challenge. With an exciting partnership and investment from Yamaha Motors, our client is looking to build an even stronger team to deliver the next level of functionality across several commercial systems and R&D projects. The Role  
With this in mind, a Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineers are needed to join their expanding team of mechatronics, mechanical, and software engineers.  You will be at least degree qualified and someone who has solid experience (5-10 years at least) designing custom automated mechatronics systems.

You will need to be able to demonstrate solid design for manufacture experience with grounded applications of your design knowledge, proven ability to problem solve and come up with a solution that works and can be manufactured.
  
You should be someone who continuously strives to adopt new technologies while also being driven to produce products that are fit for purpose. We’re looking for someone who enjoys the challenges and opportunities of using new technologies to create new inventions that transform traditional industries.
  
The role will report to the company’s Chief Operating Officer and will be working with a talented development team, to create reliable solutions while working with other staff and customers to implement those solutions.
  
To do the job we’ll be looking for someone with the following skills:
  • Degree qualified
  • 5 years+ overall career experience
  • Strong 3D Mechanical Design and Modelling in SolidWorks or equivalent (e.g. AutoCAD Inventor)
  • Experience with mechanical design for advanced automation
  • Electronics and Embedded electronics experience
  • Can program a microcontroller
  • Experience producing production drawings
  • Ability to assist with procedural documentation like service/maintenance instructions, assembly documentation etc.
  • Great written and verbal communication skills with well-developed problem identification and resolution skills 
  • Enjoys working in team environments
The following skills would also be nice to have:
  • Experience with electronics and system wiring
  • Machinery production experience
  • Experience commercialising early stage prototype equipment
