The New Zealand Fashion Museum is the world's first online fashion museum. We record the clothes and people behind Aotearoa’s unique fashion identity and share their stories through the online museum, exhibitions, publications and social media. 

We are looking for a self-starter with excellent communication skills to take on the role of creating dynamic, engaging and relevant content across our social media and marketing channels. Hours and place of work are flexible but an Auckland base is preferred.   

Key Responsibilities. 

  • Engage with the kaupapa, values and strategic plan of our organisation. 

  • Develop the Social Media calendar 3months in advance with flexibility for real time reactivity

  • Stay abreast of social media and marketing trends

  • Create posts across relevant social media channels

  • Promote our events and exhibitions on social media

  • Share our website content to maximise engagement. 

  • Research social media influencers/stakeholders, and engage with them.

  • Respond to queries on social media

  • Generate a monthly newsletter in collaboration with the Director.

  • Manage and update the database regularly.

  • Contribute to monthly Board reports using analytics in Google and social media channels.

About You:

  • Tertiary qualifications (or in progress) in marketing and/or communications.

  • A strategic thinker who can see the big picture and come up with creative ways to execute a strategic plan on a limited budget. 

  • Experience in the fashion industry or in the creative space is ideal but not necessary. A strong creative point of view, but adaptable. 

  • An eye for detail.

  • Enjoys working on social media platforms-mainly Instagram and Facebook and Twitter.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of image, audio and video editing software.

  • Experience with EDM platforms e.g. Mailchimp. 

  • Experience with website platforms such as Shopify. 

  • Knowledge of HTML editing a plus.

  • Well organised self-starter. An ability to meet deadlines. A ‘can-do attitude’.

  • Actively pursues learning and career development opportunities. 

The person in this role reports to the Director of the Museum and to the Board of Trustees. The successful candidate will liaise/collaborate with the Director and the Digital Content Manager.
