If your “why” is helping decision-makers know and show their success, then come and join us at TEC. We believe in the transformational benefits of education and vocational training and as a result we invest $3 billion a year in tertiary education and training, and seek to lift the aspirations and skill bases of all New Zealanders from ages 7 to 74.

The TEC, our government partners, employers and industry are geared up for change across the careers and tertiary education systems. We are establishing a Strategy & Design Directorate to design system enhancing strategies, products and services. This Directorate has the mandate, skills and resources for transformational change that has a lasting impact on New Zealanders' lives.

You will be working in our Strategy and Evaluation team where you will be involved in thinking about the long term sustainability of the sector, a sector-wide approach to life-long learning and structural changes to the system.  By supporting our strategy development and how we measure success, you will have a significant role in making sure learnings inform what we do in the future.

What will you be doing?

  • Working across TEC’s teams developing and embedding evaluative approaches to support our work.

  • Engaging your passion for evaluation to support strategies that are leading system change.

  • Ensuring evaluative thinking and principles are woven into our strategies upfront.

  • Applying evaluation approaches to programmes and initiatives to support organisational learning and improvement.

What will you bring to the role?

  • You will have a sound understanding of evaluation methodologies and good practice, and what is required for evaluation that makes a difference.

  • Strong relationship and influencing skills that will enable you to grow our organisational capability and capacity in evaluation.

  • Experience as an evaluator including designing frameworks for learning and continuous improvement, gathering and synthesising evidence for insights, ideally at a system level.

  • Experience and understanding of how to apply evaluative approached with different groups (i.e. Youth, Maori and Pasifika)

What’s in it for you?

  • An opportunity to work on significant projects at a critical time in an organisation, working as part of a newly forming team - keen to tackle the difficult questions and dedicated to making a difference for New Zealanders.

  • $85-112k+, depending on relevant experience.

  • The TEC also offers a range of benefits including flexible working options, additional leave and a wellness programme.
