About the roles

 

We are looking for two roles:

  • Athletic Performance Coach - Male Programme
  • Athletic Performance Coach - Female Programme

These are key resources within our High-Performance team delivering strength and conditioning coaching to the Auckland Rugby High Performance athletes involved in the Pre-Academy, Academy, U19 and Sevens programmes (Male) or Pre-Academy, Academy, Storm & Sevens programmes (Female).

Both are contractor positions that require a high level of flexibility as the hours and days of work are variable.  The hours of work will fluctuate on a daily/weekly basis; however, scheduling is done three months in advance so workloads can be managed and planned.

The strength and conditioning sessions are typically run across weekdays between the hours of 5.00am – 8.30am & 2.00pm – 9.00pm.  There will also be some administrative requirements to support these programmes which can be done off-site. 

Within the representative season these roles may require some domestic travel.

These roles will be remunerated on a monthly retainer and will need to work the hours required to fulfil the role requirements.  We anticipate that the workload will provide an opportunity to fit around the successful candidates' study or existing employment.

In this role you will be involved with:

  • Pre-Academy – working with Secondary Schools athletes, supporting their athletic development through planning and delivering strength and conditioning sessions
  • High Performance Academy – supporting the Athletic Performance Director to lead the strength and conditioning development of academy players through planning, delivering and reviewing sessions. Maintaining and reviewing accurate performance data to produce accurate and relevant athlete performance reports
  • Representative teams – lead point on delivering provide strength and conditioning coaching to the respective representative teams
  • Design and implementation of athlete monitoring systems

Skills and experience

 

  • Post-graduate qualification in sport science and/or strength and conditioning
  • 3+ years' experience within team sport environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Results and delivery-oriented approach
  • Solid planning and organisation skills
