Head of Sport
King’s College seeks applications for a Head of Sport. This is an exciting position which builds on the college’s commitment to the physical wellbeing and physical development of its students.
The successful candidate will have earned an excellent reputation for sporting leadership, creativity and the ability to lead successful programmes in specialist and integrated sports programmes.  He/she will have the unique opportunity to be part of the leadership team that enables King’s College to be competitive at local, provincial and national secondary school levels in all its major sporting codes.   He/she will also play a significant role in our pledge to give all students at the College every opportunity to enjoy and extend their sporting abilities and experiences during their time at King’s College.
Key Responsibilities include:
  • Develop the College’s strategic plan in conjunction with the Head of Health, Fitness and Wellbeing
  • Develop and lead a balanced sports programme which maximises student opportunity and potential
  • Lead a team of internal and external coaches
  • Oversee a competitive and balanced sport fixture programme
  • Manage the departmental budget
  • Ensure sports facilities and equipment is maintained to required standards
  • Represent the college at relevant sporting external conferences and meetings
The successful applicant will have:
  • Previous sports management experience in either an education or professional sporting environment
  • Working knowledge of a wide range of sports and sports programmes
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification and Teaching registration
  • Teaching experience advantageous but not essential
