Team Leader - Social Work

About the Role

As a Team Leader you will work directly with the Service Manager as support the Social Workers and Child and Family  Practitioners, providing professional supervision and support to the team. The position is based in our Barnardos Hamilton office.

Responsibilities

  • Support to Service Manager
  • Supervision of Social Workers & Child and Family Practitioners that work with children and families using your wide range of social work skills and strategies.
  •  Monitor and review action plans using appropriate interventions and the resources available to assist the client family.
  • Contribute to the development of group programmes and deliver them to children and families to reinforce this one-to-one work
  • Support Social Workers and Practitioners to support families to use their strengths, support networks and develop greater resiliency to maintain a positive and safe environment for their children and family within their community. 

Skills and Experience

  • Registration with SWRB or eligibility to register immediately
  • Experience supervising staff  working with children and families
  • Proven ability to oversee complex child and parenting case assessments & case work
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience in Family Court work and effective report writing skills.
  • Knowledge of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • A current clear driver's licence

Some of our work can be quite challenging so you will need to be a resilient and flexible person with a positive attitude. You will be working with a small passionate team of social workers who are working hard for Kiwi kids
