How do you get the best value for money from the national budget for pharmaceuticals?

This, in a nutshell, is the critical question that PHARMAC seeks to address. The Funding Application Adviser works collaboratively with other staff and expert external clinical advisors to manage the clinical assessment of funding applications and support the team in undertaking rigorous clinical, economic and commercial analysis of funding proposals. It's all about making real improvements to the lives of New Zealanders and helping ensure health sector resources are used as effectively as possible.

You will be an expert in written communication, likely with a background in health-related research or medical writing. Your strong literature-search and critical appraisal skills will serve you well in producing high-quality and objective content on pharmaceutical funding applications. Your talent in tailoring verbal and written communications on complex medical issues to a variety of audiences will be key. Your ability to work with ease with senior clinicians and senior stakeholders will also be essential to your success within this role. Coupled with this you will bring proven organisation and planning skills, be comfortable multi-tasking and dealing with ambiguity.

The role has a level of autonomy and applicants will need to be self-driven to manage time-pressured work but also need to work as part of a team. You will be part of the Pharmaceutical Funding team and supported to learn and succeed in our fast paced and dynamic workplace.

PHARMAC is the government agency responsible for ensuring New Zealanders have access to a wide range of funded medicines.  As an international leader in pharmaceutical management PHARMAC makes a vital contribution to New Zealand's health outcomes.  Our team combines experts in medicine, science, commerce, analysis, marketing and more. We're a small organisation (around 120 staff) where your expertise is respected.
