Teacher - Early Learning

A fantastic opportunity for a full time, fully certificated teacher to join the Hornby Early Learning Centre team. You will be working in partnership with whānau and our team to encourage tamariki’s curiosity, learning and development.
Our preferred candidates will have strengths in Pasifika and cultural diversity, or willing to learn and embrace these special aspects of the centre.

Duties

  • Contribute to quality learning outcomes for tamariki their whānau and the community
  • Deliver a curriculum aligned to the revised 2017 Te Whāriki
  • Plan, implement and evaluate a learning programme that is responsive to the strengths and interests of tamariki
  • Promote learning opportunities which are inclusive and culturally responsive
  • Document children’s learning and take responsibility for profile books and e-portfolio 
  • Contribute to a focus on continuous improvement through internal evaluation

Skills and experience

  • Early Childhood Teaching Qualification 
  • Current NZ Teaching Council Practising Certificate with Full Registration
  • Previous experience working as a teacher in a team setting
  • The ability to use initiative and a commitment to quality practice s and the principles of Te Whāriki
  • Knowledge and understanding of current early childhood education theory and practice
  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
  • Enthusiasm and a strong desire to make a difference to children in their early years, while building strong partnerships  with  whanau/families
