Refugees as Survivors New Zealand (RASNZ) is New Zealand’s leading mental health and wellbeing service for people from refugee backgrounds living in Aotearoa. RASNZ promotes programmes and policies that respect and advance the health, wellbeing and human rights of people from refugee backgrounds.

The RASNZ Youth Service is part of our Community Team.

This service supports young people from refugee backgrounds with the aim of engaging and empowering them to thrive as kiwis. We work collaboratively with other community and service groups to coordinate a range of programmes and events including:

  •  Youth empowerment programmes
  •  Holiday Programmes
  •  Sports and outdoor activities
  •  Leadership Forums
  •  Social events
  •  Cultural and Community Events
  •  Advocacy

Job Description :

32 hours per week

Reports to the Youth Service Coordinator

The Youth Programme Facilitator will work closely with the Youth Coordinator and Youth Leaders to understand the needs of young people from refugee backgrounds and develop and deliver programmes to meet their needs.

Skills and Experience :

We are looking for someone who has

  •  Experience in youth development
  •  Experience in taking an idea from inception  to reality
  •  Group facilitation skills
  • Leadership qualities
  •  A good understanding of the social issues facing young people from refugee backgrounds
  •  The ability to build positive relationships with young people and their families
  • The skills and attitude to work as part of a committed team
  •  The ability to engage with people from all cultures and faith backgrounds
  • To be able to manage their time accordingly throughout the week.
  •  Has exemplary written and oral communication skills
  • Administrative and organisational skills
  •  Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and maintain
  • Computer and social media skills
