Senior Manager Technology Risk

  • Take responsibility for creating and maintaining technology assurance within ANZ and be part of one of NZ’s largest technology change programmes. 
  • Opportunity to take accountability for protecting ANZ against cyber and security risk.
  • Work with ANZ’s Senior Leaders to help build and develop an adaptive, focused and dynamic Technology Risk team.  

About The Role

 

This role is responsible for implementing and operationalising ANZ’s group-wide Identify, Act & Monitor framework for the management of operational risks within the Technology Business Unit. The role will be required to balance risk with an appreciation for the objectives and strategies of the Technology Business Unit. This role will have a strong focus on the identification of key technology risks and the testing of the associated controls in place within Technology to mitigate these risks, as well as ensuring there is a strong focus on meeting compliance requirements. The role is also responsible for acting as the Technology Business Continuity Director in the event of a crisis situation.

In this role, you would have the opportunity to:

 

 

  • Provide expert operational risk management advice to the Technology Business Unit.
  • Ensure there is a robust risk and control profile in place for Technology, which drives a focus on ensuring a resilient set of operating practices.
  • Manage the delivery of the controls testing programme and ensure any treatments identified are resolved in a timely manner by the Technology Business Unit.
  • Provide assurance to ANZ NZ Management and Board on the adequacy and effectiveness of the risk and compliance framework within Technology.
  • Provide expert risk and compliance advice to the Technology Business Unit regarding remediation of risks, incidents and business issues.
  • Assist the Technology Business Unit stakeholders to drive a culture of openness and focus on identifying / resolving any risks which are not within appetite
  • Actively lead the risk and compliance function to ensure the appropriate framework is in place to effectively identify, assess, treat and monitor risk and compliance across the Technology Business Unit
  • Ensure control gaps are identified, assessed for materiality, and where necessary, treatments are implemented and tracked for all key controls.
  • Be responsible for the production, management, and escalation of the Technology risk profile. This includes timely and accurate reporting to the NZ Technology Risk Management Forum, NZ Cyber & Data Governance Forum, NZ Operational Risk Executive Committee (OREC) and the ANZ NZ Board
  • Recruit, develop and manage direct reports to create a high functioning team.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts to ensure insights on risk management approaches outside of ANZ NZ

About You

 

 

This is a senior role within ANZ and will require a highly accomplished senior people manager with exceptional technology and risk/ compliance skills and experiences. You will be a naturally inquisitive type that is constantly looking for areas that can be enhanced. You will be logical, capable of assessing situations, formulating an opinion or plan and have the kudos and character to back your views through influencing and negotiating with senior stakeholders. You will have the drive to make effective change, are prepared to challenge the status quo, propose and gain support for new approaches, and implement, stress test and refine these. 

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Excellent understanding of current and emerging Technologies along with Technology Operational Risk and Compliance in an enterprise scale organisation.
  • Significant experience in Risk Management (10+ years) with experience in designing and implementing risk management processes and practices in an enterprise scale technology environment.
  • Ability to communicate technical risks, issues and controls effectively, both in writing and verbally, to a broad range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven and demonstrable capabilities in staff management with the experience to lead and mentor staff.
  • Experience in financial sector, large corporations or Government in managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Tertiary educational qualification in a technology, security or cyber security related field highly advantageous.
