You will be supporting our Chief Underwriter and Technical Underwriters and your main responsibilities will include:

  • Support the development of innovative, customer centric underwriting solutions that deliver best in market experiences with particular focus on developing and maintaining underwriting guidelines and manuals
  • Support the underwriting audit function to ensure adherence with underwriting standards
  • Act as a subject matter expert on product/project matters
  • Contribute to the development of market-leading customer-focused products and services
  • Update and maintain a library of national and international competitor information, a database of Asteron Life collateral and materials and an underwriting feedback register
  • Provide support for Group/Employee insurance: review processes and consider any possible improvements
  • Incorporate continuous improvement philosophies and processes into all aspects of underwriting.

What you'll need to succeed 

  • Experience in a Product or Pricing role within Life Insurance
  • An understanding of the legal aspects affecting risk management
  • Analytical/Audit background within banking or financial services desired
  • A basic understanding of financial and accounting matters i.e. the ability to analyse financial accounts and apply the outcome to the underwriting decisions
  • A basic understanding of avocational and occupational risk as it relates to underwriting decision making
  • Knowledge of Asteron Life’s risk products (advantageous)
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with others regardless of their skillsets and seniority
