Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

This is an opportunity for an experienced Principal Adviser looking for the next challenge in their career.

The Principal Adviser (Intelligence) is the professional lead for intelligence analysis, championing analytical techniques and leading standards in intelligence analysis and processing. You will play an important role to help build capability, shape MPIs intelligence work programme and priorities.  It is expected that you will show strong leadership across the tactical, operational and strategic spheres to support the delivery of a cohesive intelligence capability and be able to analyse and provide advice that assists the group in achieving strategic outcomes.

 

Mōu - About You

You will be versatile and adapt quickly to the changing needs of MPI.

The role requires you to:

  • Bring innovative guidance to the development of intelligence advice and solutions to complex problems.
  • Provide intellectual and people leadership within MPI Intelligence.
  • Have significant breadth and depth of experience in Intelligence particularly in leading all levels of intelligence analysis and engaging and reporting on performance.
  • Demonstrate your keen thinking, and ability to provide high quality written and oral advice.
  • Be a motivated individual who can deliver under pressure and work well both independently and within a team.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how government agencies function, as well as key government processes and current Government Priorities.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively engage with a wide range of people.
  • Be experienced in determining stakeholder and customer needs and establishing mechanisms for meeting these.

We are looking for an adviser who can build relationships based on trust and respect with people at all levels.  Your analytical and intelligence expertise will be expected to bring value across the Directorate and will test existing thinking through constructive debate.
