About the opportunity

Reporting to a Production Shift Supervisor and working a 12-hour shift roster of 3 x days, 3 x nights followed by 6 days off, the Operations Technician will primarily be responsible for the safe operation of gas production process equipment. The successful applicant will have experience in an operations technician role in gas, petrochemical or refinery production, preferably with some experience monitoring and controlling the production process via the Process Control System. They will also demonstrate a desire and ability to train and gain the required competencies to progress to a Senior Operators Position. Senior Operators are capable of being the designated person in charge on site on night shifts and in the absence of the Operations Superintendent and Shift Supervisor and are required to assist with PTW issuing duties.

It is expected that the successful applicant will live in Taranaki, New Zealand.
 

Responsibilities of this role include;

  • Operate and maintain Kupe gas production facilities safely, efficiently and in an environmentally responsible manner;
  • Operation of process equipment within the design envelope and in accordance with Beach Energy Operational Integrity and Process and Occupational Safety processes;
  • Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of process equipment including the preparation of plant/equipment for maintenance, inspection, testing and construction, by compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Isolation Procedures, PTW and Enterprise Asset Management System processes;
  • Make operational decisions within competency and skill levels as defined or determined by Operations Supervisor/Superintendent and comply with all applicable procedural and technical instructions issued in work directives;
  • Participate in risk assessments, Shift and HSE meetings and Site Emergency Response duties as required;
  • Develop and maintain an advanced working knowledge of operation and layout of the onshore gas production plant, the normally unmanned offshore unmanned wellhead platform and condensate storage tank farm;
  • Supporting delivery of the business objectives by maintaining compliance with all internal policies, procedures and relevant statutory and regulatory requirements

 

We are looking for a proficient individual with a sound understanding of Operational Integrity processes including Permit to Work, Equipment isolation and Emergency Response.  The ability to use computerised systems and information/documentation archive retrieval systems is essential.

You will be delivery focused - with the ability to build fruitful and value-adding relations with a range of stakeholders.
