Youth Residential Service Support Staff

Stepping Stone Trust (SST) is a well-established and proven mental health service provider in Canterbury; caring for 500+ tangata whaiora/consumers each week.

  • Support - Preferred Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing
  • Passionate about working with Youth
  • Experience in mental health work preferred

The Youth Residential service provides a stable base in a modern setting for young adults who need support to manage their mental illness and maintain engagement with the community.

We are now looking for Youth Service Support Staff to work with our team.

You must have a passion to work with young adults, a desire to deliver them the best possible service, and commitment to the development of the staff team.

You may have experience working with vulnerable people, ideally in a community support or residential context, perhaps as a volunteer. This role requires excellent people engagement, good verbal and written communication skills, along with sound time management and the ability to prioritise tasks.

Our staff are well skilled, passionate and committed; this would be a great fit for someone with a desire to extend their experience or consolidate their learning around Mental Health within a residential setting.

This role encompasses all aspects of the Residential Services ranging from client engagement through to household tasks. Understanding of Health & Safety and Infection Control principles is essential. A clean, full driver's license is required.

 

Key to this role is:

  • Work with young adults around assessment, planning, structure, advice, support including help working towards their plans/goals, and connection to other services.
  • Liaison with other agencies - collaboration with SMHS, GPs, Schools etc.
  • Support and encourage young adults on their journey of building connection to the community.

Staff will work on a 3-week rotating roster, with a mixture of AM (07:00 to 15:30) and PM (14:30 to 23:00) shifts. This role has no night work. The pay scale is $43k-53k per annum for an equivalent 1.0 FTE role, in line with gender pay equity.
