Te Whakakitenga o Waikato Inc represents the collective assets of the iwi, Waikato- Tainui. Representing statutory rights and interests, the incorporated society ensures the benefit of the crown settlement continues to grow for future generations. This is achieved through a range of initiatives with the aim to grow a prosperous, healthy, vibrant, innovative and culturally strong iwi. 


Waikato-Tainui consists of more than 70,000 tribal members, with 136 elected members making up the tribal parliament; and as part of the Education and Pathways team you will play a key support role in ensuring the sustainable momentum of the tribes Tikanga Ora, Reo Ora strategies.  This is a role where you will coordinate and evaluate the ongoing reo programmes across a number of streams including whanau, marae, schools, the Waikato-Tainui organisation and the wider community.



This role has accountability for:

  • Supporting the promotion and practice of Te Reo and tikanga across the tribal area
  • Monitoring the ongoing milestones and performance of partners who deliver learning programmes
  • Building and maintaining a strong network through the Waikato to facilitates uptake and drive reach

While this would suit someone who has experience in, or a strong interest in, teaching or education, most importantly you will be an individual who brings structure, organisation and commitment to everything you do.  As well as having a real strength in communication you will also bring:

  • A high proficiency in Waikato-Tainui Te Reo and tikanga
  • Good relationship skills and the ability to bring a sense of connection across the tribal network
  • The ability to maintain learning programmes while also bringing an innovative approach to promote the sustainable momentum in uptake
