Planner Scheduler

It is exciting times at Contact Energy as we look to grow our geothermal teams with new positions in the reservoir, operations, maintenance and engineering areas. We are New Zealand’s leading geothermal electricity generator, owning and operating six existing geothermal power stations whilst holding consents for a further 250 MW of generation on the Tauhara field. We also have some key decisions to make on the future of the Wairakei Geothermal Field where resource consents expire in 2026, so we’re are not short of awesome, market leading renewable projects!

What you’ll do

  • Plan and Schedule multi discipline maintenance activities. 
  • Present the most effective, efficient and safest way to perform the work. Ensure that all of the required resources have been planned and/or determine the best time to perform maintenance work, when both the plant and the resources are available to execute the work.
  • Ensure that safe working and occupational health and environmental principles and practices are known and observed, and that all safety rules and procedures are complied with by Contact and other personnel working on site
  • Review and prioritise incoming workload in conjunction with the Outage Manager,  Site Services Manager, Operations Manager, Asset Manager and Maintenance Supervisor(s)
  • Contribute to the development of maintenance strategies 
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with all industry safety rules, codes of practice and regulations 
  • Engage contractors for projects and services ensuring the quality of the services provided
  • Review and improve scheduling processes and practices.
  • Deliver a high, consistent level of customer service to key stakeholders ensuring that there are no surprises and all outputs are meaningful and assist strategic and commercial decision making

The type of experience you’ll bring to the role 

This position will require a broad set of skills and experience. Contact will seek and recruit talent that have the following key attributes and behavioural competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including strengths in influencing, conflict management, and negotiation
  • Integrity and high personal and professional standards
  • Exposure to systematic maintenance strategies and experience in condition monitoring
  • Operating or Trade / Technician background with a Certificate in a specialist maintenance discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, etc) would be desirable.
  • In depth knowledge of some or preferably all of the following: mechanical plant, heavy rotating equipment, electrical plant, control and protection systems,  Thermal or Geothermal turbine Generating Plant 
  • Experience in a Planning and Scheduling role in fix plant maintenance, 
  • Computer literacy with a sound knowledge in SAP or similar CMMS and Microsoft Office; Excel, Word
