Our Story:

That’s what we live for at Van Dyck Fine Foods (VDFF), a food manufacturing plant based in New Plymouth.  VDFF was founded in 1999 by Belgian couple, Inge Vercammen and Marcel Naenen who brought their passion for Belgian bakery and European engineering to New Zealand.

The Role:

We currently have two vacancies for Batch Process Operators to work within our fast paced food manufacturing plant, reporting to our Team Leader.  

Available to work Monday to Friday and some weekends when required.  Shift hours will be rotated and could be either morning or afternoon shifts, we can be flexible to assist with this.  

The duties of the role are:

  • Manual handling of ingredients weighing and mixture preparation

  • Follow step-by-step instructions and reporting any variances

  • Operate machinery as per training and instructions

  • Ability to adjust machines to resolve issues

  • Accurate completion and recording in-process quality checks

  • Clean equipment, process rooms and reassemble

  • Follow food manufacturing practices and good housekeeping

  • Be able to work as autonomous and as a part of a team

We are seeking a self-motivated person with the following key attributes and skills:

  • 2-3 years previous experience within a food manufacturing/production environment or similar industry

  • Bakery experience desirable but not essential

  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene protocols

  • Physically fit. Some heavy lifting will be required (up to 25kg)

  • Be responsible for the quality of your own work

  • Attention to detail

  • Passion for food

  • Have good time management skills

  • Be reliable, consistent with a positive work attitude (outstanding punctuality and attendance)

Desirable skills:

  • Food production machine operation and troubleshooting

  • Cleaning and sanitising food processing equipment

  • Thorough understanding of positive safety behaviours and food safety

  • Experience with HACCP and food quality systems

  • Basic mechanical aptitude
