The Role

The Network Technology Manager provides expertise in capability management, investment management and lifecycle planning for the Chorus Layer 2 Access technology domain as a part of the Network Technology team within CTO.

The Network technology realise new technology from strategy through to handover of fit for purpose solutions to the operational teams, followed by close in life management of the asset and also team manages the budget for these changes and for new capacity.

The key accountabilities of this position include:

  • Supporting outcomes by collaborating closely with customers, stakeholders and Chorus colleagues;
  • Carefully planning ahead from a financial, technical and business perspective;
  • Contributing to capability and build projects in their technology domain;
  • Supporting the lifecycle of technology in the network and reacting to capacity, upgrade and replacement drivers;
  • Strongly influencing a virtual team of key contributors and experts to achieve these outcomes.

This is a pivotal role, reporting to the Manager, Access Capability and Investment, Network Technology in the CTO team contributing to the future success of Chorus, working alongside a collaborative highly driven team committed to Chorus’s strategic goals. This role could be based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.

Your Background

  • Experience within Telecommunications company or other capital intensive industry in asset and technology management in a high fixed cost, asset rich environment;
  • Planning and project management of high technology, integrated, multi-dimensional programmes;
  • Business integration and change management experience at technology, product or process level;
  • Business planning, capital planning and business case development to create a financial view of investments;
  • Supplier management and supply contract management to ensure that there are win-win agreements;
  • Industry certifications and training for DSLAM and/or OLT technology;
  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications and/or financial experience.
