Lead Advisor Ōritetanga

About the role

Essential to this position is pro-active positive engagement with our sector employers to support the achievement of Māori, Pasifika and Youth across the service sector industries with a focus on increasing participation, credit achievement and programme completion in ServiceIQ arranged industry training.

You will support ServiceIQ internally by providing expert advice to ensure our programmes, resources and marketing are a good fit for our trainees and apprentices.

You will also support the development, implementation and maintenance of ServiceIQ’s Māori, Pasifika and Youth strategies and contribute to the achievement of EPI targets in the organisation’s Investment Plan and Business Plan.

This role has a whole of New Zealand focus and is based in our Wellington office, therefore you will be required to be available to travel as appropriate to fulfill the requirements of the role. This role also has one part-time report, so it is important that you also bring skills in managing and developing staff.

Experience and Skills Required

We’re looking for:

  • Proven ability at a strategic level within tertiary education
  • A strong understanding of the environments and practice that lead to learning success for Māori, Pasifika and Youth
  • Proficiency in Te Reo Māori and well-developed knowledge and understanding of Tikanga Māori, Mātauranga Māori, and the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Skills in developing and implementing strategy
  • Experience in growing cultural capability within an organisation
  • A willingness to develop and work to action plans allowing measurable outcomes to be evidenced
  • Established or the ability to establish relationships with Māori and Pasifika leaders in relevant government departments and organisations and with iwi
  • An understanding of the industry training sector as well as TEC and NZQA expectations of Industry Training Organisations in terms of parity of educational achievement
  • An ability to write and present papers at an executive or board level
  • A full, clean NZ Drivers License
