You will be the Manufacturing Process Engineer for the Smart Power Business in Napier. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for driving improvement initiatives, projects and help develop a culture of continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities

Using your skills and experience in operational excellence. You will be targeting our processes, product, people,

equipment and systems to form a world class operation while helping take people on a journey of building a continuous improvement culture.

Your focus on:

• Reviewing Production methods, cycle-time, equipment and materials/components in support of improving efficiency and quality.

• Development of new processes or systems, with staff involvement, training and support to ensure effectiveness and sustainability.

• Identification and elimination of waste and risk to reduce cost and improve quality.

• Introduction of new technologies to enhance our operation.

• Supporting the teams on improvement initiatives or at times of difficulty.

• Effective and efficient problem solving identifying the true root causes and working to eliminate them.

• Living ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

Your background

• Ideally hold a six-sigma black belt qualification.

• More than 5 years of experience in Process Engineering.

• Sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes and tools, including Solidworks and the Office package.

• Strong commitment to safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines.

• A high level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies.

• A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
