Maintenance Welder

Genesis owns and operates a portfolio of thermal and renewable generation assets across New Zealand; the spread of locations and fuel types in our portfolio gives us significant operating flexibility. The Huntly Power Station is a valuable asset for Genesis as it has the ability to provide base-load generation while also being able to take advantage of higher prices in the short or medium term.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Welder to join the team in Huntly. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a welding trade background looking for a new challenge.

You will be responsible for all welding and maintenance tasks across all units of the complex plant, possessing the ability to assess situations and make sound and logical decisions related to plant maintenance. You'll be reporting on the plant conditions, remedying defects, managing audit and operation documentation and you'll be over viewing work activities to ensure safety, quality and efficiency of resources.

You will also be flexible, adaptable and keen to learn as on the job training will be provided. To fit in with the team, you will be friendly, self-directed and a team player.

To be successful you will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • A welding trade qualification and/or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 5-10 years' experience in a maintenance welding position in a heavy process plant environment
  • Previous or current qualification in ASME IX and ISO 9606 or equivalent
  • Proficient in SMAW, GMAW/FCAW and GTAW
  • Demonstrated ability with fault diagnostics
  • Knowledge of non-destructive testing methods associated with welding

If you have an interest in the energy sector and are looking for a close knit, collaborative team environment, this is the role for you! Genesis is proud to be an inclusive work place. We celebrate difference, diversity and aim to empower our employees. We reward our staff with a great salary, 4% KiwiSaver, a power discount, a collaborative culture and ongoing development opportunities.

Please apply online.
