Event Volunteer Coordinator, Round the Bays 2020

Sport Wellington’s purpose is to provide region wide leadership to the sport and active recreation community wherever they are in the region.  We aim for everyone in the greater Wellington region to have a life-long environment in sport and active recreation. 

 

Sport Wellington is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and capable person to join their events team on a fixed term contract until 28th February 2020. Reporting to the Event Director, the Event Volunteer Coordinator is an essential member of the the team, assisting with the successful delivery of the annual Wellington Round the Bays 2020 Fun run/walk.

 

Key tasks of this role include:  

  • Managing the recruitment and induction process of all event volunteers  

  • Communicating with volunteers, gathering relevant information and acting as a key point of contact both prior to, and during, the event  

  • Overseeing the Health and Safety management of volunteers  

  • Managing the volunteer headquarters on event-day 

  • Providing event administration and support 

  • Coordinating the volunteer reward and recognition programme 

 

The ideal candidate will be an intelligent, confident self-starter who has solid event experience and is energetic, enthusiastic and able to work seamlessly with the Sport Wellington events team. Strong interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills are essential, as are leadership qualities and experience working with professionals and volunteers. Working knowledge of current volunteering best practices would be an advantage. 

 

Excellent written English is a must. The candidate will need a full, clean driver’s license
