  • Major visitor attraction
  • Range of skills sought
  • Rewarding governance opportunities

Ngā Manu Nature Reserve in Waikanae is a sanctuary for native birds, reptiles and invertebrates, and its 14-hectare reserve is the largest remnant of coastal lowland swamp forest on the Kapiti Coast and is part of a much larger continuous ecological area. The Reserve is the #2 visitor attraction on the Kapiti Coast, and it hosts a large number of visitors, school groups and events.

We are seeking two or three new Trustees to contribute, in a voluntary capacity, to the governance of the Trust and assist with building the profile of the Reserve and growing the Endowment Fund to secure Ngā Manu’s long-term future.

You’ll need experience in governance or leadership roles, strategic ability, a willingness to be actively involved when required, excellent relationship skills, and a passion for New Zealand’s natural environment. Expertise in some of the following areas is strongly preferred: marketing and communications, fundraising, finance, project management, legal or business experience. Existing Kapiti Coast networks would be highly valued in these roles.

As a Trustee you will be making a rewarding and tangible contribution to New Zealand’s ecology, the regional community and Ngā Manu’s impact on people’s knowledge of our unique natural environment.
