Business Consultant - Consulting and Strategy

Consultant - New strategic practice

  • Build your consulting capability, supporting the delivery of key client projects
  • Work collaboratively across multiple disciplines and functions
  • Hands on role, suit entry level consultants, with business experience

Join this unique team within the Beca business, where you will be working with a team of consultants looking to grow the Beca consulting practice across projects with a highly diverse client portfolio. This is a hands-on role working in a highly collaborative team where you will grow your capability and develop your career in the consulting function.

However, you will need to bring your business skills, problem solving capability and background in delivery as demonstrated in your career to date.

This role is not your normal management consultant role and will suit candidates with a deep curiosity for the future, with a passion to make a difference in an environment that is evolving, within a truly collaborative team. Success in the role will be about you as a person, bringing your innovative mind set, ‘curiosity’, problem solving abilities, critical thinking and communication capabilities. In this role, you will be bridging technical domains to work with clients to solve their strategic, financial and organisational problems now and into the future.

About Beca Consulting and Strategy
Our Consulting and Strategy practice has been set up to help drive Beca’s 2nd Century Strategy within the wider Advisory Group. The team works cross-functionally to develop and test the value we can offer to decision makers looking for advice, different ways of thinking, and innovative solutions to the challenges they are facing. We are passionate about the future of our clients and strive to support them by implementing strategies and projects that are inspiring, innovative, and enduring. We work with some of the leading businesses in New Zealand, as well as fast growing small and medium businesses, and key government organisations.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Business Director (Consulting and Strategy), we’re looking for a confident and considerate team member with the ability to work with others in a complex and sometimes challenging environment. You need to know how to critically evaluate, simplify, communicate and deliver, all while keeping it real. No two days will be the same - you will be working on a range of tasks from developing support materials to client facing tasks such as delivering workshops. Current areas of focus include organisational resilience, business continuity, emergency management, strategic problem solving, future organisations and the future of work.

In this role you will

  • Assisting the team to champion all things consulting, contributing to the Consulting and Strategy function being the thought leader across, to solve client problems
  • Work with the team to design, develop and help implement programmes of work, methodologies and solutions that define how the Advisory Group scopes and delivers advice to clients
  • Support the development of new business, delivery models and service offerings
  • Contribute to the delivery of complex projects with the business, and as an advisor to government agencies to capitalise on downstream engineering work
  • Help create a centre of excellence - supporting the development of new operating models, skills and a team culture that supports this focus

About you
This role suits a range of backgrounds such as Project Management, Business Analyst, Change Management, Consulting or all-round generalist consulting experience of between 4-10 years’. Candidates considering moving into consulting roles will be considered. Calm in a crisis, a systems-based thinker, with an empathetic working style, you understand the importance of getting people, process, and culture all working together to deliver something special.

You will be

  • An innovator—always pushing for new ideas, fresh thinking and methodologies
  • A thinker and connector with creativity at your core
  • A story teller—leaving our clients wanting to know more
  • A person who is purpose driven and strives to be the best that they can be
  • A team player who understands the importance of ‘Kinship’ and creating a team environment of trust, respect and integrity
  • Must be eligible for a New Zealand security clearance, which can include the requirement of holding New Zealand Citizenship

This is an exciting role where will have the chance to make your mark and deliver significant change in a dynamic and evolving industry.
