This food business is well positioned for significant growth. The group has a unique offering and spans manufacturing plants, packing facilities, distribution warehouses, and transportation. This means they can maintain high levels of quality control customer satisfaction and are able to capitilise on the combined wisdom of the leaders in the business. The General Manager, Auckland will be responsible for a standalone site and is part of the larger group. This newly created role offers the autonomy to create step-change and a legacy business with plenty of back-office support via an efficient shared services structure.


About the Role:


This is an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial General Manager or aspiring General Manager to lead this part of the business towards further profitable growth. You will have P&L responsibility and be hands on, values-led and manage a manufacturing site and sales function. This role requires someone who is relentless in the pursuit of operational excellence and innovation, and interfaces seamlessly with customers whilst ensuring products are produced to the highest standard and cost objectives are met.

 

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and guidance to ensure quality, cost, innovation and customer objectives are met or exceeded
• Offer leadership and authentic people management through effective communication, coaching and development
• Establish viable growth opportunities and assesses new business propositions with rigour and appropriate due diligence
• Uphold the plant vision for success and continuously assess the best manufacturing footprint
• Manage the financial success of the operation via attention to margin, yield and cost control
• Collaborate with other leaders to uncover the best strategic decision-making and problem-solving
• Lead and motivate Managers to accomplish the goals of the plant and the people, consistent with procedures.
• Initiate and deploy continuous improvement
• Identify, communicate and implement capital investment and improvement projects


Criteria for Success:

• Experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment

• Operational and commercial experience
• Authentic leadership ability with a history of developing others
• Operations, manufacturing and ideally sales / key customer exposure
• P&L understanding and commercial decision making track record
• Collaborates with team and peers
• A solid understanding of NZ standards and legislation pertaining to the manufacture and production of food
• Uncompromising in the pursuit of disciplined thought, action and standards
• Quality & Safety focus and proven to have upheld stringent food safety standards in the past
• Leads with cultural awareness and sensitivity
