About The Role
This position will manage and coordinate hearing processes, to ensure superior service is provided and statutory timeframes are met. A key part of this position will be to attend and manage hearings, ensuring efficient operation of the process, and accurate minute records are kept.
 
Day to day tasks will also include:
  • Liaising with groups such as lawyers, commissioners and governance members to ensure all appropriate documents are received, processed and distributed
  • Maintaining an efficient and robust hearings process , managing issues as they arise
  • Scheduling hearing dates and relevant personnel, sending out correspondence and compiling agendas
  • Providing strategic and proactive advice to Independent Commissioners, District Licencing Committee’s, elected members and the general public in a professional and timely manner
  • Acknowledge and respond to all our customers queries (internal and external)
  • Setting up furniture and equipment at hearing venues ie trestle tables, chairs, projector, sound equipment
 
About You
Please note you MUST have a full Driver’s License, as this role involves use of a company vehicle to attend hearings across Auckland.
 
You will have good problem solving and decision-making skills, and the ability to use your professional judgement to effectively manage controversial issues. A high level of diplomacy, confidentiality and political awareness is required due to the nature of this role.
 
Other attributes we’re looking for:
  • Experience with local government legislation and processes would be highly advantageous!  
  • Ability to communicate legal and other complex information in an appropriate style that meets the needs of the audience
  • Experience working collaboratively with diverse groups, and the ability to communicate with a range of cultures in a respectful and considerate manner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills demonstrated through providing advice to a range of stakeholders
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and excellent time management
  • MUST be able to start immediately and commit to full 6 month assignment
