Swann Underwriting Technician - 12 Month fixed term

Swann Insurance are specialists in classic cars, collectible or specialised models. We are New Zealand's official Insurer for Harley Davidson bikes, so our technical knowledge is of the highest quality including knowledge of restored, modified or customised vehicles. We deal in British, European Classics & American vehicles too. The motorcycles that we specialise in can be collectors' items, classic, and customised so having a lot of knowledge about these is an absolute must.

We're now looking for two up & coming Underwriters to join our Auckland based team for the next 12 months!

This isn't your usual Underwriting role so we have strong underwriting guidelines in place and a highly supportive team to help you get up and running.

What will you do?

You'll be using your technical underwriting skills to support securing new business as well as managing existing customers for our classic car and motorcycle portfolio.

With your passion for relationship building you will be supporting our growth strategy by being a key point of contact for dealers such as Harley Davidson and Kiwi Bike, both of whom expect nothing but the best in underwriting whilst we demonstrate our understanding of their assets. This is not your usual motor portfolio - you'll be responsible for underwriting risks more complex than your average car, providing commercially sound, profitable underwriting solutions in line with your delegated authority level.

Working closely with our Senior Business Development Manager, you'll build strong relationships with Brokers and direct customers in your portfolio to help develop and grow a profitable Swann business.

What you'll need to succeed.

You'll be someone who takes a lot of pride in your ability to provide a high quality of service and advice to all internal and external customers. We'll need you to be an exceptional multi-tasker - flexible enough to change direction at the drop of a hat and able to prioritise your workload effectively.

You will be technically savvy in underwriting for motor vehicles, prior experience with classic, customised & muscle cars & motorcycles would be a big advantage. A passion for classic cars & motorbikes will absolutely be a bonus too!

Preferably you will bring along 2 years plus experience in Insurance & exposure to managing broker relationships. For this fixed term we will expect you to have existing experience with Home, Contents & Motor Insurance in particular.

We need someone who is results driven and solutions focused. Sometimes the decision will stop with you, so equally we'll need you to articulate yourself clearly and professionally. There is quite a bit of phone work with taking calls from our customers and Swann brokers, so a friendly professional phone manner is essential.

If you're ready to take the next step in your career, please apply now! For further information or if you have any questions about this role, please contact Jenny on 09 969 6167

NOTE: There will be a delay in decision making as the Manager is on leave until the 26th of August
