He angitūtanga: The opportunity

You will work within the Dog Control Act 1996 and Council policies and procedures to respond to public complaints about dog and stock control; customer requests for services including managing aggressive and/or barking dogs, dog attacks, wandering dogs, stock issues; and providing requirements for proactive patrolling and assistance with prosecutions.

You’ll work in the community, often flying solo, tackling tasks with the support of a large team. You will also assist in prosecutions and intelligence lead proactive patrols.

We need a conscientious person, like you, to ensure public safety and compliance.  The key to your success is a prompt response to calls for assistance and providing great service.

This role suits individuals with public facing compliance background, who demonstrate strong customer service and conflict management skills, a calm approach to resolving situations and dealing with aggressive dogs and other animals. 

A current, full clean NZ driver’s licence is required

You will help us make dogs a positive part of Auckland life.  We work across Auckland’s diverse communities to minimise harm and nuisance from dogs and other animals, and provide essential services such as dog registration and raising public awareness of responsible dog ownership.

Our diverse Regulatory Services business offers opportunities to move both sideways and upwards.  You’ll also have access to our fantastic benefits scheme, including subsidised Leisure Centre membership, an annual zoo pass and a range of partnership discounts.

This role is variable 24/7 morning and evening roster with on call work. 

Please note, the official title for this role is Animal Management Officer.  These roles are deemed safety sensitive and will require a pre-employment drug and alcohol test prior to offer.
