BGT Actors Models & Talent is New Zealand's leading film and TV talent agency established in 1998 by actress, accent coach, and former-casting director Sarah Valentine. When Lord of the Rings fever hit New Zealand, Sarah recruited over 300 extras in preparation. The agency she always wanted to start, to help other people's dreams come true, was then formed as Background Talent. In 2015 a name 'tweak' to BGT heralded the new face of a highly regarded agency with unsurpassed reputation to encompass the three divisions of Actors, Models and Talent/extras.

Based in the thriving hub of West Auckland, BGT pride ourselves on a professional, ethical, friendly and attentive approach to talent casting. We supply talent for local and overseas TV series, short and feature films, music videos, documentaries and TV commercials for the national and international markets. If it's shot in New Zealand, we usually have someone, somewhere being something.



About the role


We are looking for the face of BGT. You need to be an energetic all-rounder who can think on your feet, learn fast, and have a passion for film and television.

Your job will include:

Finding new talent.

Answering incoming calls and knowing who will manage each enquiry.

Using casting briefs to locate appropriate talent who fit the bill. Casting calls come in a flash so you must have great knowledge of social media posting such as Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, etc. so you can get the word out right away.

Ideally, you should have experience in recruitment or have a sales background. You should also have a basic understanding of the film industry, including the intense, long hours that productions involve.

On the technical side of things, you should be a fast typist, proficient with Office software, and be comfortable using all Apple products (iMac, Ipad, Iphones as that's what we use all the time).

You must have a valid work visa or NZ residency to work for us. 

This is a busy and high-pressure environment, so you must be confident to work both independently as well as part of our team. 

BGT is currently the busiest talent agency in New Zealand, supplying talent nationwide. Whether it is finding new talent, going street casting, jumping in to help with booking talent, going on set to sign everyone in on a shoot day, or travelling to Wellington to sign up new talent, you need to be prepared to jump in and go the extra mile.

You will begin with a 20-30 hour work week till Christmas and then go full time in January. Will include 2 Saturdays per month.

Skills and experience


Excellent written and communication skills are a must.
