Head of Rugby Operations - Auckland Rugby

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

To lead the strategy and delivery of all Auckland Rugby’s rugby operations including not limited to:

  • All Rugby Match Operations at Eden Park (including Test Match, Super Rugby, NPC & Community Rugby)
  • Community Rugby Operations
  • Auckland Rugby Events
  • Amateur Representative Team Logistics
  • Health and Safety
  • Management of Auckland Rugby facilities, equipment and property

    As a member of Auckland Rugby’s Leadership Team, you will be responsible for managing four direct reports including the Event Manager, Match Officials Manager, Education Manager, as well as the Community Liaison and Facilities Manager.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Will have experience in successfully leading high achieving teams managing diverse tasks/workstreams. A leader in community engagement and complex stakeholder operations, as well as being an efficient event management operator.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to think outside the box to present solutions to problems, be well organised, be able to work cross functionally across different teams whilst building strong relationships across different stakeholders both internally and externally.

You will be passionate about how Auckland Rugby can operate optimally and strive to advance operational outcomes. It is not essential to have a background in the sports/rugby industry, but it is imperative this candidate is a high performer who can illustrate experience in advancing an organisation’s operations and their reporting team’s performance.

The Auckland Rugby Union is New Zealand’s largest provincial union with over 21,000 registered players and facilitating over 10,000 games of rugby per year. Auckland is the most successful union in New Zealand rugby history, having won the first-tier domestic female competition a record 15 times and the men’s domestic competition a record 17 times as well as holding the record for the most Ranfurly Shield wins.
