AUTSA are a small team of busy people doing our best to make AUT a fun, safe and enjoyable place for all students. We run events and activities to give students a break from all that study, publish a student magazine, offer a range of clubs and societies, represent student interests within the university, offer legal advice when students are in a sticky situation, help students find a job while they're studying and much, much more!

Our current General Manager is taking parental leave from 4th November 2019 to 8th June 2020 (7 months), and we are looking for a strong leader who can take the helm while he is away.

As the interim General Manager, you'll be responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organisation according to the strategic direction set by the Governance Board. You'll provide rigorous support to the Student Representative Council in providing student representation. Successful integration and collaboration of both the Governance Board and Student Representative Council are critical success factors for the General Manager. You'll be responsible for maintaining a professional and collaborative working relationship with colleagues within AUT as well.

The right candidate will be passionate about working with students, someone who values diversity in people and of experience, is experienced with people management and budgeting/financial planning, has outstanding organisational and communication skills, can think strategically and problem-solve, and is prepared to be hands-on and ‘hit the ground running’.

Proven experience in a General Manager or similar leadership role is essential, and experience with change management and best-practice HR processes is preferred, as you will be stewarding the organisation through a period of growth and change during this time.

This is a fixed-term role for the 7-month parental leave period. The preferred candidate will be able to start sometime in late October in order to benefit from several weeks handover from the current General Manager.
