Back-End Development Team Lead

We are excited to be partnering with Volpara Solutions to assist in the recruitment of multiple key roles in their fast-growing company. We are looking for a customer-centric, highly analytical and passionate Back-End Software Engineer to drive the development of their key tools and solutions.

With a presence in 38 countries worldwide and continued growth since listing on the ASX, Volpara Solutions is further growing their Wellington-based R&D team in order to deliver more value to their customers. Their teams are dedicated to speeding up the diagnosis process for detecting breast cancer, by creating market-leading software and tools – and with recent regulatory changes in the US, their products are becoming a market standard.

The Role

Volpara is looking for someone to assist with the evolution of their core products. As a Senior Software Engineer / Team Lead, you will be responsible for the technical leadership of projects, working closely with Product and Delivery Managers to define and implement product requirements. As this is a Senior role, you will also be expected to take on management/mentorship responsibilities for a small number of Engineers.

You will be joining a highly passionate team transitioning towards a more customer-focused agile delivery method. As a member of this team, you will be a collaborative worker who puts the team above themselves, working towards the common goal. You are an effective communicator who can build and maintain relationships effectively with various skill-sets and levels of leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a group of software developers, ensuring best practice is maintained.
  • Work with key stakeholders to evolve product requirements and identify technical debt.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements for existing products.
  • Design and develop well-architected and coded software products.
  • Ensure products developed are secure and of high quality.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate design and regulatory documents.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

 

Experience Needed:

  • Ideally 10+ years’ experience in development across both a waterfall and agile methodology.
  • Experience with Azure PaaS services, such as Service Bus, Web Jobs or Functions.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, C#, SQL, Azure Storage and .NET.
  • Understanding of source control strategies.
  • Knowledge of large-scale datasets and system scalability to match these datasets.
  • Familiarity with a range of backend technology concepts, including REST APIs, Docker, and Linux.
  • An excellent understanding of design patterns and can demonstrate their use.
  • Experience with continuous integration and automation, including unit testing and putting those into practice.
  • Experience with bulk PaaS deployments.
  • Excellent communications skills and can tailor complex information to all audiences.
