Support Worker

Specialist Support Staff - Relief

About the role:

The  Relief Specialist Support Staff team deliver quality support to people with intellectual disabilities in our community based residential homes and flats.

  • Supporting people to get involved in their community, build relationships, develop their personal interests and achieve their goals
  • Supporting people with all aspects of daily life. This could include household duties, meal preparation and in some instances personal cares
  • Working alongside whanau, communities and other organisations to help people live, learn, work, belong

We currently have permanent positions available on the Relief Team, which means you have permanent contracted hours.  Relief staff specifically cover planned leave and work across a wide range of our residential services.

Essential requirements:

  • A full New Zealand driver's licence and the ability to drive auto and manual cars and vans
  • The right to work in NZ for at least 12 months
  • The ability to work a rotating shift roster (including weekends and overnight shifts)
  • The ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people including family, community, and professional groups
  •  A good level of physical fitness
  • Patience, adaptability and a passion for improving the lives of others
  • Good level of phone and computer technology skills

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience in providing support to people with disabilities, including those with high and complex needs and challenging behaviours
  • New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 2, 3 or 4 or equivalent
