This is a 3 month contract role initially. The role has an opportunity to go permanent pending NZQA approval of future programmes. 

Purpose of Role:                                                 

This role will support the National Postgraduate Director and DCL team (Postgraduate Certificate in Digital & Collaborative Learning) with the smooth running of the programme across New Zealand.

The Mind Lab Postgraduate Certificate Digital and Collaborative Learning is the largest Postgraduate programme in New Zealand. We have taught over 4,000 educators in over 100 locations.

Purpose of The Mind Lab:

The purpose of The Mind Lab is to encourage the development of conceptual understanding of contemporary digital, scientific and technical theories and practices in young students between the core ages of 4 – 14 years and to develop the professional delivery skills for teachers using recognised digital pedagogies.

The Mind Lab offers classes for school groups, after school and school holiday programmes, and three NZQA-accredited tertiary programmes:

  1. Postgraduate Certificate Digital & Collaborative Learning (DCL)
  2. Master of Teaching and Educational Leadership  (MTEL)
  3. Master of Contemporary Education  (MCE)

This role is specifically to support the Postgraduate Certificate Digital & Collaborative Learning (DCL). 


Key Areas of Responsibility and Accountability:

Coordination and Support

First and foremost work with & support the National Postgraduate Director on the DCL programme. Your role will include (but not be limited to things such as):

  • Support Postgraduate Directors & Facilitators with day to day administration for the DCL Programme
  • Working closely with the NPD + PGD/PGFs to define what content is required from week to week and ensuring it is correctly loaded into relevant platform[s]
  • Setting up Google Hangouts / meeting for the team including notes and follow ups
  • Reviewing travel with Office Manager where required
  • Work with the National Postgraduate Director to  ensure week 1 support is administered - both resources and people.

Supply Management

  • Stocktaking & replenishing teaching supplies 
  • You will be one step ahead of the teaching team and be proactive to plan and replenish supplies  
  • Reviewing technology requirements with teaching staff and technology staff and arranging for equipment to be bought, tracked and sent to correct location.  

Communications & Events

  • Work with key team members to set up and attend educational events, workshops and graduation
  • Manage weekly communications across all platforms to students in all cohorts.
  • Manage week 1 communications and supplies
  • Administer weekly photographs for all 

Travel

  • Travel around NZ may be required from time to time.

You will:

  • Be an energetic and positive self-starter
  • Have at least 2 years' experience in a similar support, admin or co-ordinator role
  • Be flexible with travel and hours when assisting with events or evening classes in the first week of the programme
  • Have demonstrable experience in operating independently with excellent attention to detail & initiative
