About Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities

Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities, brings together the three existing agencies of Housing New Zealand, HLC and KiwiBuild to form a new organisation.

Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities is central to the Government's aspirations for housing and urban development. It will work across the housing spectrum to build thriving communities where everyone has a place to call home.

This new organisation will have two key roles - being a public housing landlord, and partnering with the development community, iwi, local and central government to deliver urban development projects of all sizes.

The anticipated start date for this new organisation is 1 October 2019.

The role

As the Placement Support Specialist you will manage the process of matching new applicants with suitable Housing New Zealand housing. This will mean quickly establishing relationships with Ministry of Social Development, potential and existing tenants as well as internal teams. This is a busy and exciting role so you will need to work efficiently and be highly organised to ensure a successful outcome for our customers.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • solid experience in a service delivery role
  • sound organisational and time management skills
  • the confidence and capability to take ownership for delivering successful outcomes
  • proven communication and relationship management skills
  • experience with how large organisations function and interact and how to get best results for customers
  • ideally an understanding of social housing and knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act.
