About the Role 
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant with 1-2 years’ experience in a similar sized global organisation or a CA firm. You will be working in a challenging fast-paced environment, so a solid history of solving multiple operational and accounting challenges is a must. You will be a Reconciliation Guru with a proven ability to collaborate across teams and jurisdictions.  
 
What you’ll do 
Financial Accounting & Processing  
• Ensuring daily local and forex currency bank recs are completed 
• Processing all month-end accounting tasks are completed within the monthly timeframe to ensure accuracy and completeness of all reported transactions
• Assisting the business and shared services team with any technical accounting advice when required
• Completing all the balance sheet recs for month-end
• Assisting with preparation of month end Add & EDW Reports for board packs
• Assisting with intercompany variance analysis
• Assisting with year-end financial reporting packs, including consolidated P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements
• Ensuring financial controls are in place to meet the Group’s objectives and that all reconciliations (balance sheet, inventory, tax, prepayments, intercompany etc) are completed on a monthly basis 
 
 Business Performance Analysis and Reporting 
• Other ad-hoc projects or strategic support which could cover but is not limited to
• Assisting in providing financial data and strategic support to senior accountants and management 
• Analysing trends in backlog, sales, cost of sales, profit and cash (net funds) and providing recommendations to senior accountant in support of strategic business decisions 
 
Tax & Statutory Compliance
• Ensuring all operational tax (GST, FBT, PAYG, Payroll Tax, NRWT) is calculated and paid in accordance with local regulations
• Assisting with the completion of Stat NZ Surveys
• Liaison with auditors and ensuring all external audit requirements are met and any issues escalated in a timely manner 
 
Process and System Optimisation
• Actively assessing all current end to end financial processes and making recommendations for optimisation, implementing agreed improvements, with a view to standardising all processes across the Group.
