This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Coordinator to play a pivotal role in the growth of an established local NGO, working in the field of migrants, ethnic minorities, refugee communities and newcomers of Nelson and Tasman Districts. Multicultural Nelson Tasman (MNT) is seeking a dedicated and capable Coordinator with a proven record in raising funds, organising activities and events, community networking and comfortable thinking outside of the box.

He/she works to organize programs and events that create a welcoming environment and to anticipate and address issues of diversity, promote an awareness and understanding of multiculturalism and promote initiatives that further enrich the appreciation of diversity in the regions. The Coordinator will work to raise awareness of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and the status of Tangata Whenua among ethnic communities.  He/she will report to the Chair and Management Committee of MNT.

Tasks include: Building and maintaining relations with a variety of government and community stakeholders, developing and delivering a comprehensive and coherent fundraising plan for the organisation, identifying, preparing and completing funding applications, planning and marketing multicultural events such as Race Unity Day festival and others; recruiting and coordinating the work of volunteers, contributing in the development of the organisation, and other tasks as per job description.

Qualifications: At least 3 years equivalent work experience is desirable. Knowledge of funding sources is paramount, experience in event planning, community outreach, and program coordination; strong leadership, written and oral communication skills. The Coordinator must have adequate inter-cultural competence and be comfortable working and liaising with people from different ethnicities and cultural backgrounds.

Time Commitment: This position is 25 hours per week. This is a unique opportunity for a talented individual to play a pivotal role in the development of a leading NGO and gain a wealth of experience working with a small and dedicated governance team of volunteers.

NOTE: The successful applicant will undergo a Police Clearance Check and Immigration New Zealand Visa View check to ensure they are entitled to work for Multicultural Nelson Tasman.  MUST HAVE A VALID WORK VISA and LIVE IN NZ.
