Central Energy Trust Wildbase Recovery Support Officer

Palmerston North’s recently opened Central Energy Trust Wildbase Recovery provides shelter and care to New Zealand’s most endangered and treasured native wildlife. They recover from illness and injury in our specifically designed rehabilitation centre under the care of Massey University’s Wildbase staff before being returned to the wild.

You’ll be working with a diverse range of audiences from volunteers, to school groups, tourists and visitors, and local community groups, to understand the issues, barriers and ways we can protect our native wildlife. Your skills with communicating and creating awareness materials for a range of media will be invaluable. This exciting role is the perfect opportunity for you to create awareness of native wildlife in New Zealand and develop new approaches to engage community interest.

Your ability to be flexible and provide assistance and support where needed is essential in ensuring the smooth and successful running of our wildlife rehabilitation centre. Your experience in education, particularly in the area of te reo, will assist in creating educational programmes that complement and enrich the learning of visitors.

This position is 20 hours per week, Saturday – 8 hours, Sunday – 8 hours and 4 hours on either a Monday or Friday (to be agreed with the successful candidate).

E 20 haora i te wiki te tūranga nei. E 8 haora i te Rāhoroi, e 8 i te Rātapu, me te 4 haora i te Rāhina, i te Rāmere rānei (ka whakaritea me te kaitono angitu).
