Team Leader - Social Work

About the role

Barnardos Child & Family Services are looking for a Team Leader to supervise and support a team of dedicated professionals in a part-time (30 hours per week) permanent role based in Richmond supporting both our Nelson and Blenheim offices.  

Duties

  • Provide support, professional supervision and leadership
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management; practice of the service
  • Assist the Service Manager in the overall management of the team
  • Work with children and families using your wide range of social work skills and strategies.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience as a senior practitioner/team leader in a social service setting
  • A qualified and fully registered Social Worker
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and their families using a social work case management framework.
  • Familiar with theory and practice around the impact of abuse and trauma
  • Experienced and/or have a qualification in supervision
  • A holder of an unrestricted NZ driver’s licence.

Excellent communication skills are key to this role. You’ll also need resilience, flexibility and the ability to build strong professional relationships with families and service providers, and be prepared to travel regularly between our two sites in Richmond and Blenheim
