The Wellington Night Shelter provides temporary housing to 45 men with a range of support needs.
Reporting to the Shelter Coordinator, the Maintenance Worker will assist with various aspects of building and equipment maintenance including managing onsite hazards, electrical equipment testing, building WOF compliance, liaising with trades people and ensuring the high quality presentation of the accommodation, shared spaces and office spaces. The Maintenance Worker will assist the Shelter Coordinator with inspecting the building and equipment and will perform any basic repairs or preventative maintenance and decorating as required.
The Maintenance Worker will keep the Shelter Coordinator and Director informed of any work required, estimated costs of maintenance and upcoming scheduled work as well reporting on work undertaken. The Maintenance Worker will be experienced in general maintenance, have skills in painting, decorating and carpentry, be versed in the use of various hand and power tools, and be able to understand architectural plans and a range of manuals.
Having responsibility of general maintenance at the Wellington Night Shelter, the Maintenance Worker will also work with the Shelter Coordinator to organise and monitor any repairs required to be undertaken by external suppliers and contractors, along with managing a quality list of suitable trades people to undertake the work.
