Pavement Maintenance and Renewals Supervisor

The NZ Transport Agency recently entered into an Interim Alliance Agreement with Fulton Hogan and HEB Construction to form an Alliance to maintain the Auckland State Highway network from 1st July 2019. The Alliance is expected to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders as well as suppliers to deliver exceptional outcomes for customers using the Auckland road network.

PURPOSE

Your role is to ensure the delivery of the pavement maintenance and renewals works is completed in a safe and efficient manner whilst minimising the impact on the customer.

You will be responsible for all pavement maintenance and renewals work complying with all appropriate legislation, company policies and procedures, and industry best practice.

THE ROLE:

  • Coordinate work and resources, to ensure the delivery of the pavement maintenance and renewals works on time, within budget and to a high standard.
  • Take responsibility for the health and safety of your staff, subcontractors and yourself. Ensure all work is implemented in such a way that risks / hazards are identified early, and appropriate mitigations are in place. Stringent safety standards must be adhered to. Ensure that PPE and safety equipment is worn / used appropriately.
  • Carry out all work in line with the ASM policies, procedures and rules. Provide feedback on work instructions or procedures that may need creating or improving.
  • Complete all documentation required for the role including time sheets, daily job sheets, pre start inspections, plant usage sheets, quality checklist, hazard ids.
  • Ensure optimal operational efficiencies throughout all aspects of the project. Maintain programmes of all work. Review progress / programme and financials with Pavement Maintenance and Renewals Manager.
  • Ensure jobs are carried out to job specifications, relevant legislation, codes and regulations.
  • Highlight any potential or actual problems associated with resources including quality issues to the Pavement Maintenance and Renewals Manager in a timely manner.
  • Identify any areas that staff may require development to enable them to perform their roles competently and efficiently.
  • Identify work that does not comply with the requirements of the quality system and ensure the appropriate rework is carried out prior to release to the customer.

THE CANDIDATE:

  • At least 3 years' experience in asphalt delivery
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role.
  • STMS Level 3 Practicing.
  • Accountability - Faces up to problem situations quickly and directly and doesn't hold back when action needs to be taken.
  • Customer Driven - Clearly understands the internal and external customer and is dedicated to meeting their expectations and requirements.
