Intensive Wraparound Service Facilitator

About the role

We are expanding our services and looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Child and Family Services Practitioner to provide Intensive Wraparound Service facilitation support to vulnerable children and their families.

Barnardos and the Ministry of Education deliver the Intensive Wraparound Service which provides a range of community based services and programmes supporting children and young people who have high and complex needs in a range of settings including home, schools, community and care within a multi-disciplinary team.

In this full time role you will work in a multi-disciplinary team engaging young people in the IWS process and support them to develop and monitor plans.   

Responsibilities:

  • To orient the young person and whānau to the wraparound process
  • To co-ordinate key team members, and play an active part in the development of a plan with agreed outcomes for the whānau, and to monitor and record the progress of these outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with the whānau, Ministry of Education Learning Support and other groups to ensure a coordinated wraparound service.
  • Produce timely and accurate documentation to support the Intensive Wraparound Service's requirements.

Skills and experience

  • A tertiary qualification in social work or in other relevant human services
  • Proven experience working with young persons, whānau and Maori and Pacific communities
  • Previous knowledge of group work and meeting facilitation experience required
  • The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication, organisation and administrative skills including preparation and writing of in-depth meeting notes and reports
  • The ability to build strong professional relationships and champion the perspective of the young person and family through the IWS process
  • Resilience and a clear understanding of your own self-care needs
  • A clean, unrestricted driver's licence (travel across the region will be required)
  • Have NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit.
