Product Services Technician

Use your tool and craft skills assembling and refining prototypes

Balance of hands on and keeping SOP’s and Work Instructions up to date

Looking to be part of a leading-edge company, in a unique industry and working with a small team that thrives on getting things done together? Our client designs and develops niche products that are highly sought after and valued by many clients across the globe.  They are known for their ability to meet a client brief and the integrity of the final product as important data is captured through the devices. They have a rare opportunity to join their Technical Services team, based at HQ, right here in Hawke’s Bay. This is a well led company, a secure role with many happy long-term employees.

As the Services Technician, you will be supporting the engineering, technical designers and product managers. This includes pre-production assembling and testing of customer made prototypes, finding ways to refine them, right down to mg in weight or mm in diameter,  ensuring they match client specifications and are enduring in the field.  The environment that the product is used can be significantly environmentally challenging. Being involved in the production and assembly means you will be able to also write, review and refine standard operating procedures and work instructions, making sure that any changes are technically correct and updated in the documentation, then communicate to the team.

It will appeal to those who like to be hands-on at the workstation and enjoy the puzzle of taking drawings to turn into prototypes and then further refining them. You are able to learn to use smaller power and hand tools, be familiar with machinery, such as a mill, CNC, and band saws. You will also have a track record or leaning towards the paperwork and like to keep the documentation in order.  Ideally you will have a basic working knowledge of Solid Works* or other 3D drawing software, can work in Microsoft Excel and Word, and have good attention to detail. It goes without saying, you are a good communicator and can write in a style that is clear and to the point. This team relies on each other and are proud of the interesting, leading edge bespoke products they design and export around the world.

You don’t need to be qualified here. All you need is the work experience, be a self-starter, mechanically minded, have a flair with using tools and have loads of initiative. This team can teach you the rest. If you are interested in knowing more about the role and the company, then email your CV to careers@redconsultinggroup.co.nz quoting reference “MT Product Services Technician” or contact the team at red, in complete confidence.
